T in The Park July 8th/9th - Ecosse

At a packed media launch today, festival organiser Geoff Ellis will announce that American funk-rock heroes and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS will headline the festival on SATURDAY 8th July.

Seminal British music icons THE WHO, whose guitar legend Pete Townshend vowed to return to the festival after performing at last year's festival with Rachel Fuller, will bring the curtain down on SUNDAY 9th July.

THE hottest band on the planet right now, the record-smashing, punk-pop northerners ARCTIC MONKEYS will make a welcome debut, almost a year to the day they performed at the world famous King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

Leeds boys, KAISER CHIEFS who have rocketed to stardom in just 12 months and Iceland's SIGUR ROS are also confirmed. From the hometurf... legendary rockers PRIMAL SCREAM will headline the King Tut's Tent on Sunday, their 3rd visit to T in the Park. As if that ain't enough, THE ORDINARY BOYS return after Preston waxed lyrical about his love of playing to Balado.

The Slam Tent celebrates 10 years at the festival, first up announcing Chicago house impresario FELIX DA HOUSECAT on Sunday and as well of course, the SLAM boys themselves. The highest demand ever was witnessed for T in the Park tickets this morning as eager fans snapped up all available day, weekend and camping tickets in under one hour.


A limited number of tickets for this year’s T in the Park went on sale back in July, just one day after 2005’s event and sold out in four hours. This astounding record-smashing time is testament to the festival’s consistent popularity and stature amongst global music fans, who voted T the Best Major Festival in last year's UK Festival Awards.

Geoff Ellis, CEO of festival organisers Big Day Out Ltd commented:
“Once again music fans have shown that T in the Park tickets are the most hotly sought after in the UK! The beautiful Balado location coupled with the unrivalled passion of the Scottish audience and of course the consistently brilliant line-up all add up to a festival experience that is unrivalled anywhere else in Europe. If you didn’t manage to get tickets this year, then once again we do advise you not to turn to ticket touts as not only will you pay well over the odds, but you may be paying for tickets that do not exist and you will not gain access to the festival with a forgery.”

T in the Park 2006 takes place at Balado in Perthshire, Scotland, on 8-9 July with a cracking line-up that already includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who, The Strokes (announced today), Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Primal Scream, Sigur Ros, and The Ordinary Boys.
